shower not working power is on and water pressure normal in taps

hi guys

baisically my shower is not working and im looking for any help sorting it.

Yesterday while in the shower the water cut out for about 10 seconds and then started working again. Then it stopped working for about 20 minutes then worked fine again. We thought it was maybe someone messing around with the water supply and thought it had fixed itself.

Now tonight again the shower is not working. The power is on and the light on it says its getting power. The water pressure is fine everywhere else in the house. We have tried unscrewing the hose from the box and there seems to be no water getting to the shower for some reason.

Any advice would be great. I know we could phone a plumber but i dont want a huge bill for something that we missed that we could have fixed ourself. Thanks

Solenoid pops out of the valve fairly easily. You could always replace the whole valve if you find that a bit easier but at a material cost of £40ish rather than £ 10ish.

Of course, remotely, thats my best guess at the moment although I'm pretty confident that's what it is. You need to do the resistance tests to prove it though. Surely one of your pals might have a multimeter stuffed in a toolbox somewhere?

  • phoned my dad who didnt have one will ask in work tomorrow. The Solenoid has a bit of plastic behind it so we couldnt get it out without unscrewing the part attached. thanks again
