Any tips for painting the outside of the house?

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated. Is it rendered or is it pebble / spar dashed? Has it been painted before? Are there any large cracks in it or any areas that are blown?
Good question! Not sure of the answer though! Most of it has been painted before but there's a patch down the side where I guess they ran out of paint! You can see the surface best here so maybe you can tell if it's render/pebble/spar - I don't know the difference!
Cheers

Looks like render to me (but no expert). And looks in good condition. But do the tapping to test to check in a few places.
Have you rubbed your hands over it. Is it chalky?0 -

Definately use a thick pile roller and you will have the job done in a few hours.(rather than a brush) If you don't fancy climbing a ladder you could get your roller on the end of a long extendable pole, then just get someone to cut in for you at the top.
When you get to the paint bit shaggy pile roller as said ^^^.
Recommended to me and seen in use by a professional painter."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

it looks like pebbledash , so it will need a thinned coat first to seal it and then add a drop of water to any further coats to prevent the mud cracking effect , also if it's windy don't bother starting as the paint spots will fly everywhere , unless you live miles from anywhere idealy you want a cloudy day with no wind , don't paint in full sun or you will end up with drying lines0
