Wet floor after ironing

Hope some ironing pros can advise...
I've got my Wilkinson's medium ironing board and my Philips iron (recommended by Which) and I was noticing splashes of water on my laminate floor which isn't desirable.
I thought the iron was leaking but it was actually from water that was running down the frame of the board and dripping on the floor.
Any way to stop this? I've been out today and bought a JML iron board cover supposedly with a thick underlay to replace what came with the board itself so I don't know if that will fix it or not but thought it was worth a try.
If anyone knows any way to stop this, please share.
Thanks

Is your iron a steam generator one? Have read that they work best with a mesh ironing board. Saying that though I have an SG and an ordinary steam iron without a mesh ironing board and have never had that problem.0

I've got a Polti steam generator iron and a mesh ironing board and my floor gets quite wet. I put a towel on the floor or sometimes don't bother and mop it up afterwards. I've got vinyl flooring so it doesn't do it any harm to get wet.0

This will always happen with metal ironing boards - its condensation. There is a plastic ironing board available, which is supposed to prevent if not minimise condensation from the iron0
