By the way, the reestit mutton site is a search database of current deals from suppliers that have known to pay out on cashback deals. If you choose a phone, you will be going to the retailer's site to actually buy it (when I first read about the site, he funded the site just through referral links to the dealers - not sure if this has changed but he certainly wasnt biased in the past).

I always use these deals as they're brilliant!! I've got an O2 one through carphone warehouse at the moment. It's great as 0845 & 0870 numbers count in the free quota of calls! My advice is when you order your phone print off & keep all the information about it, particularly the cashback part. Often there's a form to print off which you need when you claim. Lastly, make sure you send your claim by registered post.
Good luck & enjoy the savings.

Thanks for this, they sound good, but how do they make money from it? Do the phone companies (orange and the like) do the same sort of deals?

I've finally almost finished a looonnnnggg 18 month contract with T-mobile.
I rang up last night to cancel, and the lady on the phone just couldn't accept i wanted to cancel....giving me the hard sell to stay with them. No thanks!

I've just signed up for a clearance deal with The Phone Stop....free Motorola L6, and only £2.50 a month for 250 minutes and 100 texts...trouble is it's a cheque back deal...i have to pay £30 a month and then receive cheques refunding most of the line rental...

i know it will be a bit of a hassle remembering to send off the bills etc, but on the face of it it seems like such a good deal, and far cheaper than pay as you go...

Has anyone had any problems with these offers?

I used to do these deals often making the whole years rental £0. However, of late I have not always been as good at claiming as I should have been! :-)

I just picked the wife and I up a couple of phones direct from three (with £70 cashback) on an 18 month contract with 500xnet a month @ £15 a month. Works out at £11.11 a month after you factor in the £70 and I don't have to remember to send in anything!

  • I'm on my third cashback deal, this one with the Link. I've used CPW and Dialaphone as well, no problems. I also look through Reestit's site regularly. What I would SERIOUSLY advise is if you find a deal search the company name through MSE and google them as several of the companies on there seem to be rather difficult to get cashback off (several threads mentioning having to use small claims court).
This is not meant as a slur on Reestit as I used his site last time and would do again, he simply puts all the facts about deals for you in one place but I really would do your own research.
You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...
  • has anyone ever used Phones2UDirect. found it through quidco, but upon receiving the phone the box it came in looked as though it had been tampered with as in a bit squashed. Within the package, i found strands of hair. i contacted them and they gave me this reason:

"You are obviously concerned that you have received a used phone. Without
even having to research this I can guarantee that the unit would not be
used, as if you read our terms and conditions of return, you will note that
we do not accept used units back (unless faulty, in which case they go back
to the suppliers). We do inspect many of our phones
and they are mailed to you, which may explain the hair and condition of the
box. Whilst most are received in excellent condition, the odd unit can come
to a customer with a slightly damaged box."

I dont know if i should chase this up or even get other people involved. ive had quiet a few phones in the last couple of years and have never received them with damaged boxes. although i've only ever received one phone via the internet before from the carphone warehouse which was in good condition. any advice? feel free to pm me also. Thanx.

Bit of a strange colour... give them a call and see what they can do. Don't worry about the e2save documents they seem to come with all the phone spot phones, I guess they're just re-using stationary.
