about £50 preferably because it looks like we will be getting a taxi back from the stadium after bruce springsteen concert - not sure of taxi fares in manchester but im sure they will be dear.....
been bitten before when we chose a cheap hotel for fleetwood mac concert and ended up staying at a place with bed bugs ....

DO NOT STAY NEAR THE ETIHAD STADIUM, i went to a gig there when it first opened and round there is a bit 'lively'
last time we stayed in the city centre we did a laterooms mystery room and got the radisson blu
oh and dont get a hackney from near the stadium, phone a minicab firm like streetcars
there are a few cheaper hotels that arent too shabby, there is a travelodge that is classed as salford (i think) and it is actually just off deansgate (it means going into the centre to leave) but trust me it is preferable, there is also a premier inn near st peter's squareWho remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0 -
thank you for that ........i was thinking it would be better to stay in the centre as itll be cheaper, thanks.......do you have a rough idea of how much a taxi will be from the stadium to the centre or thereabouts depending on where i manage to book?
i really dont know manchester much and im scared of getting lost again like last time - unfortunately i was lost in salford and it was scary.......
thanks0 -
not got a clue sorry mate it is quite close to the centre but its not a walk, i work in salford and walking back from the stadium will be same sort of thing.Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0

I stay in the International Hotel by Piccadilly Station, it looks manky from the outside and most rooms aren't en-suite, but at £25 a night B&B, i'm not complaining.just passing through.... Nothing to see....0

Hi
We were at Etihad last night for Coldplay :j They shut the roads immediately around the stadium for around 20 mins after kick out time, and it is only about a 20 minute walk into city centre (walked from Piccadilly St) Presumably there will be lots of people walking in same direction - we walked back to the car park in opposite direction - so although the route is a little bit "Back street-y" I'm sure it will remain well lit and safe that night
We have stayed in the Britannia Hotel - there is also Britannia Sachas Hotel which we haven't stayed in - which sometimes have cheap deals and are the right end of town ie nr Piccadilly Gardens HTH0 -
thanks kettlefish - i hope you enjoyed your concert.......
i never thought of the fact plenty of people will be walking back to the centre, hence, making it much safer but, ill bare that in mind
Thanks so much...0 -
Hi,
You can walk from the Ethiad to Manchester City Centre, in roughly 20 minutes!
There are some really nice hotels, though i can recommend a website that work uses, to book hotels which can save you quite a bit of money if you like?
If you can give me a PM would be great [Can give you Walking Directions and the Website]

most of the cheap hotels were booked up - been at it all day trying to get a good bargain, booked one and then found the reviews were really bad so cancelled it.......now have managed to book;

ive quoted for the taxi and its about £13 so that isnt too bad, just need to plan how to get there from manchester city centre (coming via bus) - it does say theres a bus stop outside so need to find a direct route......
thanks all for your help.0
