I guess its no worse than being waxed though.

    .

I was a hard core waxer (4 weekly through my 20s means I have literally nothing to take care of in my 30s). Didn't even flinch during a hollywood wax. Tried epilating instead twice - absolute agony. Had me in tears. It's slower than waxing and less efficient so you end up spending hours getting sore. Good luck to you if you attempt it. I'd need has and air to get through it I think!!

Me too, but I trust no-one to wax down there but myself.

My advice? Don't do it! I have a relatively high pain threshold and oh dear god it was horrific:eek: And that was only on my legs! Used it twice on a little patch each time and gave it away. It was a fancy one with attached cooling thing but that didn't help one iota.

I have always considered myself to have a very low pain threshold - but maybe I'm a little more brave than I thought!

Have used noting except an epilator for the past 5 years and would not use anything else. TBH I don't find it painfull and don't suffer form ingrown hairs either.

Pain is a strange thing - I can epilate my bikini line, but just the though of someone waxing my ankle area (during a leg wax - I don't have exceptionallu hairy ankles!) causes a sharp intake of breath!!!

I'm a real wuss and tried an epilator a few years ago and it was agony BUT tried again with another one last month and found this one to be absolutely FANTASTIC and much, much less painful.

I went into Boots to buy a new shaver and got talking to one of the staff and she persuaded me to give this epilator (which also has a shaving head) a go - Philips are doing a 60 day money back guarantee so I thought it was worth a try.

Glad I did - this won't be going back!

It has a sort of soft set of rollers that press the skin out and seem to help with grabbing the hairs - plus the head is ceramic which is better if you have sensitive skin.

    I LOVE this!

Savvy Circle are doing a trial of a Braun 7 wet/dry epiliator so you may be able to get one to try free. :) (see Freebies forum)
Personally, I'm a wimp and can't get my epilator over my knee (eeeek!) but it is much better under water (i still scream though!)

The Philips one I mentioned above is only for dry use - Argos has a video which explains why Philips thinks that dry is the way to go... all I know is that I've only ever used an epilator dry and this time it is much, much less painful.

I have the braun 7, I've used it wet and dry. So far I have used it on my legs and armpits. Have only used it up to my knees on my legs as it does sting above the knee! Will attempt that eventually lol as well as bikini area
Armpits surprised me as it was a strange sensation but I wouldn't say it hurts! My legs are fine, got used to the feeling very quickly. Very happy with mine, I'm so pleased someone on here recommended it to me. Use a razor to go over the strays that it doesn't pick up but I can go without using it for a week easily and I have really thick, stubborn dark hair. Well worth the money. I don't suffer from ingrown hairs now either whereas when I just shaved, I did.

Until it died a few weeks ago, I epilated my legs and underarms. Found no real pain, although my legs were rarely as smooth as shaving. I couldn't justify buying the new Braun one right now, so just got some razors. For me, shaving is better for my legs, although after not doing it for years, there have been a few cuts! I do find the shaving leads to more ingrown hairs under my arms - noticeably more. I'm looking out for a new epilator on a boots deal now!
