why carbooters buy sky+ boxes?

can anyone enlighten me as to why people are at your car at 6am asking for sky+ boxes please? what are they doing with them? i know you used to buy a chip card etc but i thought that was stopped years ago, im asking because i am currently going to join sky and am wondering should i also be looking out for cheap sky+ boxes?

You can sell Sky HD+ boxes for good money on eBay, up to £60 and even if the box is faulty the hard drives are worth at least £30 if in GWO.

Not only that but I used to do homers for friends ect who may want a upgrade or the like,so rather than pay £xxx per box,I can give them a recovered box with a 3 month warranty.
I'm sure the are other ex/current Sky techies out there who do the same.
