Ive been asked by my aunt to find out more about pcXuk before she commits to a computer. They seem to sell refurbished computers and laptops at a reduced rate to people on various benefits but I can't find anything else about them on the internet or any previous threads on MSE.
Has anyone brought a laptop or PC off them before? And does this computer look like value for money?

She doesn't want to buy off ebay as shes been stung before with electrical items and has no computer shops near her bar a Currys/PC World.

They're also registered with Companies House, and look like they've been going since 2005 (although the registered address is Unit 1, not Unit 16 as in the whois lookup above)...

I have to say, I'd probably avoid ordering from any company that didn't display a contact address on its website; there's not even a geographical phone number, so (without checking the domain/company registration), you'd have no idea who you were dealing with...0 -
And, despite being registered since 2005, the Internet Wayback Machine only captured a single snapshot of the website once in February last year. The website appeared to contain just a holding page: http://web.archive.org/web/20110207143118/http://pcxuk.com/
Maybe pcxuk.com is a new domain they are using, but again, it would make me feel a little wary...0 -
Looking at their technical specs I'm not impressed, a P4 processor and 1GB of RAM a CD drive and only a generic picture.
Personally I'd be looking to pick up a used Core2Duo processor or better model I bought one a year or two ago for my mother came with 2GB's of RAM and two DVD drives, one a DVD writer and only cost slightly more.0 -
I haven't used them myself, but Morgan Computers has been around for ages. They have quite a few refurbished PCs going cheap. The specs aren't great and most (all?) come with XP rather than Windows 7, but maybe worth a look...?0
