Laptop Insurance

Hello,
Here is my case. I have been with Coop (CIS) for years never had to put a claim in at all. On the off chance a couple of weeks I realised my Macbook Pro was not covered. I couldn't believe it. I assumed it would have been covered under household contents, desktops are, laptops aren't. I rang them straight away and asked for it to be covered under 'Personal Possessions'. A couple of days ago I was adding a second hard drive a freak accident happened and a puff of smoke came out. I fired the machine back up and realised the wireless was dead and it was boiling. I left it in with Apple and they confirmed a serious repair was need. (main board and airport card) I rang Co-op straight away and put my claim in. An assessor contacted me this morning to inform that they are unable to process the claim due to parts failure. Page 20 of the policy: (a) Mechanical, electrical, electronic or computer failure or breakdown. I couldn't believe it, it was my fault and an accident since I put a 3rd party piece of equipment in the machine which caused the fault. Where do I stand with this. The machine switches on but when plugged in maybe a fire hazard as it reaches over 70C. I will contact the ombudsman as the the agent who told me I was covered regardless for any personal item up to £2000. Any info would be great.

But as you were not qualified to work on it you were negligent, you wont get far with this claim.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

In most of the cases, insurance companies escape from the cases which they assume as a definite case. In my opinion, desktops can be covered in the insurance, as they are not assembled into a single piece, but the case of laptop is different and moreover, insurance companies do not provide much relaxations on these things.Be insured and be safe0

Sounds a bit like the email i got years back.
Guy insured his cigar collection, Then filed a claim for them, A series of small fires. (he smoked them)
He took the insurers to court and won. Then they had him arrested for arson.
Time to move on and dont go adding parts into a laptop/macbook etc. without knowing what your doing.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
