Is it a file or a folder?
Is it a folder called C:\Program Files (x86)?
If it is the above folder then this is where you non-64bit programs are installed. You do not want to delete this folder.

It is that folder,so i cannot delete the stuff inside the folder that is leftover from previously deleted programmes.I don't mean delete the whole folder.

Like Hoofehearted said, don't delete the whole folder,
but you can treat it the same as 'Program Files' folder in XP

So, yes, safe to delete left-overs from previously un-installed progs.

I'm sensing an impending "how do I get back deleted files" thread... :)

I'd recommend running a program called "ProduKey" on your machine, so that you can grab licence key numberos of installed programs.
