Hi, i have looked at the advice from MSE regarding using an online pre paid card to make purchases on the internet and out of the 2 that were suggested only 1 is available which is the travelex the other extreme cred isn't available any more. The problem is that the travel ex has a minimum deposit of £100 where as i will only be using mine for online purchases of an average of around £50 a month so i need something with the lowest fees, does anyone know or has used one they could recommend?, thanks.

They're not prepaid credit cards as it's an oxymoron, they're just prepaid cards. The Travelex card is intended for international travel and not to be used as an everyday card.

However as I recommend with most people, what is wrong with using a debit card? You will be able to get one even with a basic bank account and you will find that prepaid cards cost a large amount of money in fees in comparison to a basic bank account.

If you're determined to get a prepaid card however there is a wide selection, the most popular are Kalixa, Orange Cash and Neteller although I'm sure other people know of others. Each will have different fees that you'll want to look out for and compare based on your needs.

Yes I'll go with Kalixa if you don't intend to use ATMs which are expensive. Both U.K. and foreign point of sale transactions are free with Kalixa and there are no foreign exchange fees and you get contactless tap and go. Currently there's a competition automatically entered when you spend abroad.
