paintless dent repair is only viable if the dent is not part of any or over any structaral supports that makes it impossible to access with their tools.

dents in bumpers can be pushed out without affecting paint.

simply take the time and effort in taking the bumper off heating up the plastic behind the dent with a heat gun, then with a cloth covering your hand push the dent out.

if you can access the dent without removing from the car, boil the kettle slowly pour the boiling water over the dented area then get behind the dent and push it outbeing carefull not to scoil yourself.

    scratches.

most people think that because it wont t-cut or polish out it needs a repaint. wrong your just using the wrong product. images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSuxhSK5izqsiAYnCTbHVCqPgdDoJXRVtwfBh6dtKvMtNsd3gz-Wg scratches like this can be repaired easily, with elbow grease and the right products, here i would choose to use a cutting compound like G3 ferracla, on a micro fibre cloth centering my efforts on that white scratch in the middle, if it doesnt come out with that then 2500 grit wet and dry paper wet with soapy water and sponge rubbing pad to put the wet and dry paper round for control, and try and erase it with the 2500 grit slowly rubbing it down, then dry off cutting compound on a cloth again and get the haze out the panel, apply buff and keep doing it untill you panel becomes shiney, re-seal with a polish and job should be done.

ofcourse some scratches goes deeper than the surface, that becomes a time consuming job for the DIY with little materials person such ourselfs, but none the less can be repaired at little cost your self and alot and i mean alot of time and patience.

I've used "Chipsaway" - was pretty impressed with them. Cost me £120 to have a fairly nasty dent removed - filled, sprayed and blended in. You couldn't see it at all afterwards and I am mega fussy so its fair to say he did a good job!

It did occur to me afterwards that they're probably no cheaper than taking it to a bodyshop, but they are convenient. Took him bloody hours though!

I have use a company called Little Knocks in west London and Bracknell for dents, bumpers, scuffs and scrapes. They charge a fraction of coach builder costs and I have never had any complaints or been able to see the repair.

They are commonly referred to as smart repairs and pointless dent removal. There are a number of companies around that offer this type of service. Have a look in Yellow Pages on line for local companies in your area. Many are franchise businesses.

I've used one. I had a very nasty scrape on the bumper of a Chrysler 300C where I'd backed into a concrete tub. It was harder to fix than the bloke thought but he did it and it was totally seamless. I'd do it again.
