Cahoot 1 year fixed rate savings 3.6% application problems: Anyone else?

I've tried several times to apply for the cahoot 1 year fixed rate savings account (issue 4) but keep getting the following message:
Please Call Contact Centre
Sorry, it is not possible to proceed with your application at this time. Please call the cahoot contact centre for further information on 0844 9000 900.
I'm reluctant to call up because I hate calling call centres and I'd rather hold out for another comparible savings account to come onto the market. I've applied to several savings accounts in the last few years and not had any problems, has anyone else encountered this? I'm just curious as to why there would be a problem with my application. Thanks in advance.

Have you overlooked the minimum balance needed ?.0

I had the same problem last week. I crashed out half way through the process as funny text appeared on the screen and I was uncomfortable with security in case I had been hacked. Cahoot system would not let me start again.
I sent an email to cahoot customer services who responded the next day
"Although we have cancelled the application, our systems will still hold your general information. In order for you to proceed and start afresh, please provide us with your surname & date of birth. This will allow us to amend some settings on our systems so that your new online application will be accepted"
I have just now successfully completed the application process. Strangely enough they did not delete the user name I had previously entered and I had to think of another one. You may like to try an email approach, saves the hassle of a phone call0 -

Thanks, I'll try that: the first time I tried the application it crashed so perhaps my application also needs to be re-set until I can complete it in full.0 -
I had the same issue. It was because I was trying to open it as a new customer but because I had had a Cahoot credit card years ago (more than 6 as I don't have any of the paperwork still) they still (rather worryingly) had me on the system.0

Its a legal obligation to retain the details for at least 6 years I think.0 -
Yes, but my cahoot card was closed at least 6 years ago (it's no longer on my credit file) and probably more like 8 or 9. It looks like they don't clear out website login details. Also the advisor I spoke to on the phone could see my security information in the clear. I'd argue that retention is beyond what they need for regulatory reasons, and is probably beyond what data protection allows.0

Edit:
It seems to be working now, just say No to the Direct Debit option. Phoned them as well. They take the money out at a later date so you could apply for the 3.6% today.0 -

This usually occurs when Cahoot already have a record of you. It happened to me because I also have the first issue of this bond in joint names with my wife. When I applied for issue 3 using my log in and adding my wife, I received this error message. I phoned up Cahoot who very efficiently opened my new account immediately.
The bond does not need to be funded until the end of August and up to that time multiple deposits can be made. Once £25k is received, you will earn 3.6% until 1 September 2013. If you have deposited less than £25k before the end of August, the bond will be closed and your money returned. It is also possible to open the bond today with a zero balance and only decide whether to fund it or not by the end of August. This way if a better offering comes along, you can put your money there and let the Cahoot bond lapse. Alternatively, if bond yields fall, you can decide to put extra money in your Cahoot bond till the end of August and still get 3.6%. A free option!
Ignore the direct debit part of the application. Fund the bond using Faster Payments directly from another external account.0 -
I'm rapidly losing interest in this one as I kept being rejected despite being existing cahoot customer and logging in to apply for the bond and getting nearly to the end of the process. It also kept asking me what I'd be paying in monthly which seemed an odd question as it's a fixed rate bond.
So I ended up going with the Coventry new 1 year fixed at 3.60 and opened it straight away - worth it for the lack of hassle to me.0 -
I am also losing patience with Cahoot. Opened account 4 June, welcome pack, which I have to signed before acoount finally opened and I am able put money in was not dispatched till 28 June, after I chased them.0
