Yes I think so too, and she does take very good care of them.0

Tbh if I was away for a month I would quite like the peace of mind from knowing someone was looking after the house and pets, so I would agree but not bother 'stocking up' on things or buying treats in and if she runs out of the basics in the house she'll need to buy things in herself or eat at her own house!
Yes it's great having the peace of mind, but I also have great neighbours who would watch out anyway.0

Fair use is one thing, but stealing off your own w/o any consideration is not on - the toilet roll would be the last straw for me. Didn't your OH have anything to say about it?
As she is your sister I would probably not be able to resist mentioning it to her - but find a contingency for your DD's pets first.
No OH, just me and my girl, the thing is that I do not think she sees anything wrong in it and its not like she was flogging my jewellery, she has always been like this, we come from a big family and she is the only one who never shared her things but still shared ours, so i suppose it has become the way things are over the years.0

Agree with the others here, hide away your bubble baths, soaps, toilet paper etc or if you want to supply her with things for the duration of her stay pop to Asda or Lidl and get the really cheap stuff if she is the kind of person who will use tons of it just because it is free.
For food I'd leave a bit but not too much, enough fresh produce for a couple of days and a few tinned goods but that's it, hide the rest away - although I suspect she would go snooping through the house so might find it anyway.
She is doing you a big favour to look after your animals so I would appreciate it if I were you, but she shouldn't take advantage of the situation.0

Thank you all, I will start reducing now, and just put enough for a day or two and still bring her back a lovely pressie.0

I second putting it all up in the loft. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0

I wouldn't really trust her to house sit again TBH. It was nice of you to get food in for her but she could have just gone to the shops like she would at home. Also if I was housesitting for someone I would make sure to get fresh milk and loo roll in before they got back if I'd used it up. But the main issue is she shouldn't have cleared the cupboards! Sounds like she couldn't have used all that stuff so probably stole it! Isn't the point of having a housesitter so that doesn't happen? You could have a talk to her about what happened last time and your expectations for next time but I'd worry she'd do something petty while you were away. You could lock your stuff up and limit her to the basics but why should you have to? I think it would be worth paying someone else to housesit for peace of mind.0

sounds like a plan;)I second putting it all up in the loft.
as has been said, she is doing you a favour - but she will have been able to stash a month's wages there - less rent - unless she let her flat out :rotfl: Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson - less rent - unless she let her flat out :rotfl: Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson Janice 1964-2016 Janice 1964-2016

I'd text her just before you return from your holiday, saying you'll be tired after the journey and so would she mind getting some food and milk, etc in for you for when you get back. That way hopefully you won't come home tired and hungry to an empty cupboard and fridge!0

I'm curious as to how many loo rolls there was in your stock pile that she used them all?? I can understand using up food if you pig out constantly, but toilet paper?
Do you think the amount of stuff was humanly usable in a month, or could she have actually gone shopping in your pantry for her own place?0
