Tesco customer service

Options
Really angry about the customer service i received from tesco the other day. rang to see if an item on the direct site was available in my nearest tesco direct store. The item was a novelty wig for a party. The young idiot i spoke to asked me to spell "wig" which didnt bode well, he then told that "yes" they did stock them instore. i asked him to confirm that and even asked him to put me through to the store to check. He said he couldnt do that but reassured me that they did stock them.
Guess what.... Yes thats right. they didnt stock them. Wasted time, wasted petrol, waste of space tesco... I emailed to complain and got a generic response and then a phone number to ring.. rang it and talked to a very nice bloke who really couldnt do anything but log the complaint. It would seem that every time you ring tesco now for even the simplest of things they start every conversation by asking for your post code.. ok fine, name..fine, full name... address and even phone number....i only wanted to check they have something in stock for christ sake!!!!
Well bye bye tesco, if you cant be bothered to respond to emails and give SH##e customer service my money will be spent elsewhere. My regular online shopping will be done with someone else..
A bunch of idiots!!!!!!

The information they would have had led them to believe that there would be enough ...
However, the stock figure isn't real-time - i.e. isn't updated as per each till scanning that day - and even if it did there may be umpteen in various trolleys around the store, so availability can never be 100% guarranteed.
Of course he needed you to spell it - just to be sure he may may have thought you said 'fig' better to ask to check.
As your details have been 'logged' there is now a 'hstory' of your complaints.

You are going to boycott a shop for one mistake?

Methinks you need some perspective ...

No i am not going to boycott a shop for one mistake but for several and a total lack of courtesy in replying to my complaint. The idiot i spoke to i believe knew that he was sending me on a while goose chase. as for spelling wig "to make sure" i cant ever remember there being "an afro fig" in a party store.. but hey .i guess there could be.
The system im talking about seems to work for john lewis who will give you stock levels at any given store and will ring or put you through to store to confirm the stock levels and retain one for pick up. so it exists and works.
Just to clarify the item wasnt out of stock but was never available. it only exists online. The idiot should have had this information, indeed on a return call to complain the guy checked and confirmed its online only status.
I accept the need for logging but FULL details are not needed. they are used i suspect for marketing purposes..
finally on perspective.. there are young men dying in in Afghanistan, people being murdered in syria and every time i go to my local childrens hospice i end up in tears. of course this is not important, most complaints aren't but that doesn't mean i have to accept ignorance, stupidity and being treat like a fool. .

You don't need to explain yourself, this is the place for ranting. :)

I'll never touch another Toyota or fly BA again, both of which I have ranted about before. ;)

Tesco does seem to be going downhill though.

You asked them if it was available at your local Tesco Direct Store and the answer will be yes as all Direct products are available at all Direct stores. This is because you order it and it is delivered to the store for you.

You should have asked if the store stocked it, not if Direct stocked it.

But look on the bright side, at least they didn't charge you for a receipt. ;)
