How to tell distance from river?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me, i've just had a letter from egg saying they were not doing home insurance anymore, so i'm in the process of getting some quotes.

One of the questions i'm being asked is if my house is within 400 meters of water, there is a river a few streets away from my house but i'm not sure if its more or less than 400 meters away, I would think it would be around that amount but its hard to tell by guessing.

Is there anyway I can get a measurement of how far away i am from the river, perhaps by putting my details in on a web site, or is it something i can do myself, maybe using the GPS feature of my iPhone?

I don't want to guess and potentially put the wrong answer in,

Thanks for the link to that website, it says i am only 240 meters from the river, so i will put that in my application

Hi, I don't know about the iphone, because I don't have/don't want one, but with most other sat nav apps you could set the options to walk/shortest distance instead of drive and then ,while standing beside the river, enter your postcode/house number and it would give you a fairly accurate measurement to within a few yards.
