We would sell everything we have, but no way would our meagre belongings cover such an expense.

What exactly do you imagine the expense to be?

Surely all you need is money for the transit (be it airfare or petrol money) plus enough cash to cover the first month's rent or accommodation costs?

I can't imagine that it would costs all THAT much.

Do you have an idea how much the accommodation would cost?
    What about bills?

Do you have any credit cards that would suffice to tide you over until you get paid for the first time?

No bank is going to lend you money to leave the country. You are gone and there are no recoverable assets.... where is the guarantee that you would pay it back?

If it is in Europe, start selling things, and go out with your suitcases to a rented, furnished flat. As stated, you need flights, rent deposit and a month's food money etc. Your salary there will provide cover as you get settled.

    Good luck

Well as well as flights for myself and the children, we are looking at van hire/boatfare for some belongings we want to keep. Then the norm over there is 3 months' deposit + one month's rent in advance! Then you have food, a month's bus ticket, childcare costs.... It all adds up!

Thanks for all your advice x

Could you go over your self to start with, save as much as you can, live in digs and family come over later.

Any other family you can borrow/cadge from.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
