RBS - Shell Visa Card Warning

Just a warning to anyone with a RBS Shell Visa card. I took mine out last year and transferred a sizeable balance to it under the terms of their 4.9% for life deal.
This month I noticed I have been charged full interest on the outstanding balance. A phone call to them (approx 5 mins navigating through their automated system to actually get to speak to someone), and I was told they have had a 'system error' that has resulted in wrong interest being charged.
Now the impression I got from the numpty at the other end of the line was that they had 'caught' some of the affected accounts, but mine wasn't one of them (there's a surprise) and it would now be added to the list.
He said the charges would be recalculated and appear on my next statement, what I want to know is how to I check they haven't diddled me as I will be paying full interest this month?
Check those statements.......
Scott.

Yes - I've had to make 5 calls to them (via geographic number courtesy of saynoto0870 !) to sort it out - MrsWibble noticed it first and after my first call was told "it would be sorted out in next statement" - its just been done in June after nearly 4 months - a call each month to be told "it'll be sorted next month". Grrrr.
At least each time I complained (via 1899 VoIP !) I got £5 for my call charges refunded !!
Now in the June statement a proportion of the refund has been charged at standard rate so check your statements carefully and ring and complain (don't forget your call charge question !) - mine was only 34p but that would accumulate at standard rate into a tidy sum.
Moral ? Check your interest rates each month !0 -
I had a similar problem with Alliance and Leicester (MBNA) last year.
Use the monthly interest rate applicable to your offer to calculate your actual monthly interests. Then deduct the interest from what you had been charged (full rate). The difference should be your refund (approx). Check this with your previous and present outstanding statement balance.Regards
