Old Egg Money direct debit

When Barclaycard took over my Egg Money World Mastercard a new direct debit was set up.

The old direct debit is still alive and well in my list of direct debits. Does anyone know if there would be any issues with deleting the direct debit?

I seem to remember someone having problems with their new direct debit when the old one was cancelled? Anyone had this before?

Just want to make sure I don't have any issues deleting the direct debit without informing Barclaycard and don't trust their CS to advise correctly either way.

When I cancelled the Egg direct debits, I got an e-mail saying that I had cancelled my Barclaycard direct debit and to e-mail them within one working day if this was unintended. The Egg ones must be linked back to Barclaycard as well, somehow.

I did reply to the e-mail but they didn't respond until about 3 days later by which time the online site showed the new direct debit had been cancelled. Incidentally the e-mail said the direct debit was active which seemed to be untrue.

I just had to set up the direct debits on-line again and its been OK since.

I cancelled my old Egg direct debit about a month ago and it's not affected the Barclaycard DD luckily.

I did the same last year with no problems.
