Edited: French winner, now Paypal issues !

How come this French buyer slipped through the net ?!?! ( Nothing against the French ;) ) I only stated postage for UK and Ireland, doesn't that mean that I will only ship there and only buyers from those countries can bid ?

I liked the message:
HI I BUY THE TICKETS BUT I LIVE TO FRANCE HOW MUCH COST THE SHIPPING CAUSE IN YOUR INFORMATION YOU TALK ABOUT IRELAND AND UK. I PAYE BY PAYPAL WHEN YOU SEND ME YOUR ANSWER. THANKS YOU SO MUCH

You have to select in your ebay account under preferences that you will only allow bids for countries you ship to. Otherwise as you have found out although you only specified shipping costs to UK anyone can bid. If they have good feedback you might consider selling to them.

Really ? So I can't specify countries for specific items then ? Just either or ?!?! I remember one guy from another country asking me not long ago to let him bid as he was barred from doing so, yet I've never touched my preferences ?!?!

    Thanks Flo

It could be that he has registered as UK.

If they first registered in the UK, then they can bid on UK-only auctions. To be honest though, posting to Europe isn't really a problem; I post things to Germany now and again from my auctions and there isn't any customs issues or significant time delay in getting things posted out there.

It can be a hassle though.
You have to send it correctly with the insurance and all that jazz.

If you don't want to sell to him you don't have to, as they are against your seller preferences.
(I agree, it's likely they are registered to a UK address)
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

I've gone ahead and accepted the French bidder despite me not wanting to when I listed.

They straight away paid via Paypal which was great, but I noticed that the address was unconfirmed. I wasn't comfortable with posting abroad to an unconfirmed address, that would be just looking for trouble !

I asked if I could refund the payment, get her to confirm her address then resend through the payment. She said sure but could I let her know what address I wanted her to use !??! She thought I wanted the payment sent to another email address of mine, doh ! I've tried explaining and sending through a link to the Paypal page that talks about address confirmation but she still doesn't get it, and I think she's getting a little narked with me !!

Is the system different in France ? Or is she just being a little 'thick' ( in a non discriminatory way ) ?

Thanks pseudopensioner :) Though my arsey, ill mood hopes that wasn't sarcastic ? ;)

As well as 3 strikes last week, I seem to have attracted half a dozen non bidders, numerous items going for a loss and this French woman giving me grief. Never known a week like it !!! :o

I wanna crawl off and sleep under my duvet... though the endless snot will no doubt keep me awake !

*mumble grumble* I need a proper job.....

You know I'm not brilliant with the smilies thingy...LOL

It most definitely was not meant to be sarcastic

    Good luck with the sale.

Anyone help me with the French Paypal thing please ?! Am I just being over cautious ?!?! The value of the item is £300 and I'd be sending via International Signed For to an UNCONFIRMED address....
