Managed to clear up enough for my DB and nephew to visit. So spent the morning doing drawing, playing on the swings and slide and blowing bubbles :D we also cleared up litter as apparently putting things in the bin is a really fun game :s

Collected dry cleaning, bought curtain wire and tie-back hooks. Muslin curtains are now up in the hall and spare room. Need to find cream muslin for bedroom and white tie-backs for spare room. Holes for tie-back hooks in the bedroom are too low as these curtains are shorter, so will need to make new ones.

First load of laundry is on. Lots of cleaning needs doing but I'm pacing myself... Need to get back into the lists so it doesn't all take quite so long. Hopefully upstairs is finished, so there shouldn't be so much dust created from now on...

    Plans for today involve:
[STRIKE]go shopping and put shopping away[/STRIKE]
change bedding - stripped, need to put clean bedding on
laundry - now on WM x3
[STRIKE]some HHCs upstairs putting clothes away[/STRIKE]done 2, 1 more later
[STRIKE]baking (buns and cake for DS2's belated party with his friends - he loves lemon drizzle)[/STRIKE]

Going for 2 HHCs upstairs next - changing two beds and putting clothes away. DH may be back by then. I've forgotten that our kitchen scales broke, so can't do any baking until I get new ones. :(

If you really need to bake then:
1oz marg/butter is two level tablespoons
1 oz sugar is two level tablespoons
1oz flour is three level tablespoons

If (like me) you don't have a tablespoon then 3 teaspoons make a tablespoon. Just don't try for an 8oz mix using teaspoons!

For your lemon drizzle I would use this as a rough guide working on 2oz per egg, and then use your lemon juice or milk to get it to soft drop which should even out any issues with measurement. HTH

Have cleaned the hall floor on my hands and knees (why do men think dust sheets are unnecessary? All the tiny flecks of paint take forever to get off) which was depressing as I thought it was in pretty good nick and relatively undamaged. I don't know whether the dent and marks are recent, but I suspect all the work being done in the house has taken it's toll. I'm also hoping that it was just looking dull before I cleaned due to poor clearing up of paint smears, and not because they've been cleaned up with White spirit and the finish has come off...

I know that bamboo can be sanded and refinished, but I really can't face the dust :(

WM about to finish, so I will hang the first load out and then consider what it is feasible to do next. I quite fancy a sleep :o

Thanks, hex. I've got a cake and at least 12 buns to make, so I'll go scale shopping once I've collected DH from bowling. It's only a 5 min drive to argos.

Hope your floor turns out ok, greenbee. Fingers crossed.

Beds are stripped and I've done my 2 HHCs rehoming clothes. Another 30min should do it.

Going to peg out towels and put bedding in the WM. If DH hasn't phoned by then I'll start on a corner in DS2's RoD. :(

Washing is on the line. Suppose I should shove more in the machine. And then maybe have a sort out of the freezers. It would be nice if I could actually get round to defrosting one of them...

I'm not taking the floor up Kazw!

Think it should be OK... I might get a nicer runner for it at some point. I do get frustrated when workmen carefully put their battered toolboxes down beside the runner rather than on it. It's there to protect the floor!

Second load of washing on. Shed freezer emptied, switched off and left to defrost. Utility freezer inventoried. Need to meal plan, and tidy the kitchen so that I actually bother cooking. As decorating is finished for the moment, in theory I should be able to get everything back in the right place...

    Hey guys

Beautiful teddies Bossymoo brought a lump to my throat too, the lady that made them has done an exquisite job xx

Congrats Granny pigpen welcome to the world little Fabian xx

Glad you had a good time Kazm glad you weren't in Wales x

I've done stuff this morning (see facebook) but done nothing since which is ok cos there's nothing pressing, I AM however supposed to be stripping littleys wallpaper this w/e, it was all in the grand plan of stripping this w/e then next week to fill/sand etc then the week after (when she's in Spain with the school) paint it and then get a carpet fitted for her her return, it would be silly not to make the most of the room being empty for 5 days, but I'm procrastinating *sigh*

We've got glorious sunshine at the minute which makes a change from the monsoon weather, wish I'd stuck the WM on cos it could have gone out as it's windy too.

I really fancy an Indian Takeaway but funds wont allow boo hiss, so will have to make do with sausage/mash/veg and gravy, will need using today anyway so it's all good, but oh for a chicken rogan josh and a cheese nan nom!

Anyone heard from Toots, she's been on my mind more than usual this week, hope she's ok x

Off to make a brew and chew a plan of action over in my mind, come to a decision, then totally do something else instead haha
