Surveyor missed crack?

Hi all,

Should a homebuyers report have picked up on a visible external crack an external wall?

It's a crack that runs from the corner of an upstairs window to the roof line. It follows the mortar line (no bricks are cracked) and no wider than a few mm at any point. It's a Victorian terrace.

Had the survey done about 2 months ago.

Is my house falling to pieces?

Can you prove it was there 2 months ago?

I think it should have been picked up. However, in my area all the victorian terraces have this crack unless they have been rerendered so I don't think its a problem. Have a look at houses near you. No harm in checking with surveyor for your peace of mind. They will probably say its a historic settlement crack

could also be a lack of a lintel - some older houses window openings were supported by the windows themselves

cue cowboy dg windowfitter a hundred years later, rips out the old window puts in the new, bricks sag and crack
