Help! Can anyone please suggest how I can get all traces of brown packing tape off of glass? Have tried scraping.

Try nail varnish remover applied with cotton wool so you do not scratch it :):):)

spray with wd40, leave for a few mins, and rub with bit of kitchen roll, is fab stuff and removes all sticky traces, is good for all sticky residues.

We're doing lots of cleaning at work because our chairman Sir Ken is coming down for a royal visit.

I used WD40 to clean off all the sticky tape that accumulated over the years on our walls, and everyone was v impressed with my cleaning know how. :rotfl:

Just hope they don't give me the job permenately.

    Cheers

if you dont have much luck with WD-40, try using methylated spirit.

you find it in DIY stores, and its a purple watery solution. preferably wear plastic gloves when your using it.
use a piece of cloth to work at the residue from the brown tape.

I agree with skiddy2k,We used to have to remove glued on pictures from boards at work and found methylated spirits worked well if the board was well saturated in it. It does smell quite strongly though but evaporates.

Not sure if I have read this or dreamt it to be honest!! Cannot find any original.

Anyway, I think I have read somewhere(?) that you should put damp cling film on anything sticky like this, leave it for a few a hours, then peel off?

If anyone tries this, do let us know please!

That is absolutely fantastic - had a photo frame with ugly tape residue on the plastic for about three years. Took me a quick blast of a WD40 substitute, and a few mins later the residue wiped straight off!

    Thx all!
