Hair Straighteners: SCP vs GHD?

Hi There,
Anyone purchased a pair of these SCP Mk 5.2 Solid ceramic straighteners, which have Adjustable temperature 80°C-210°C & 360° non tangle swivel cord, & cost approx £30 as aposed to the new generation GHD Mk4 Ceramic Hair Styler & Straightener - which costs more like £100.......

I know all my friends have ghd & rave about them - & it's hard to find poor reviews regarding them - BUT the SCP's do have a good marketing write up on numerous sites, I like the fact they have adjustable temp, AND they are sooooo much cheaper........

But then again - if they turn out to be rather crap - then it's a false economy ultimately.....

Anyone with any info to impart on the above?

Cheers!

i have had loads of hair straighteners, non branded makes, babyliss etc etc but none of them are anywhere near as good as my ghd's

i'm on my 2nd pair but only because i had the light pink breast cancer ltd edition ones from 2005 and sold them a year later in perfect condition to put towards the 2006 hot pink breast cancer ltd edition ones.

the ghd's also have a 360 degree non tangle swivel cord, temperature is not adjustable but all the straighteners i've had with adjustable temp i've used on maximum anyway, i just use a heat protection spray first.

Just stop a moment... and think...

If you buy a pair of GHDs, GHD will have more money to spend on making those atrocious adverts.

    Think hard.

    Don't do it Purchaseruk!!

I have some SCPs. They get my hair straight. My hair is similar to, but slightly less curly than Mel B in the spice girl days.
I've never used GHDs to compare, but wouldn't because of the price, hype, the explosion potential and as frivolous_fay mentioned, the adverts :D

GHDs everytime. I don't care that they are so expensive. They are worth every penny. I've had other hair straighteners in the past and they are nowhere near as good as GHDs.

i'd gone through loads of cheap straightners before and the only time my hair ewnt straight an stayed that way hours later was when i had it cut at the hairdressers who all used GHD's

i agree the price is more than a bit much, and the only reason i agreed to pay that amount was when i had a sweet £500 chq tax back a couple of years ago.
otherwise i would prob still be going from straightner to straightner every few months
so i guess it has saved me in the long run anyways
