Hi i just need a little advice if anyone can help pls.
I have just booked to go away with the girls on a 4 day break i so cant wait i have never done this before.
But what i need to ask is we only have hand luggage would it be ok for me to take shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste and things like this on as hand luggage if they are all travel size, is there a limit on how many i can take through. I know they have to bee in clear bags also will it be a problem to take make up on if i put it in a clear bag thanks for any info. Also can i take aerosols on ie little hairspray or is this a no no

For up to date info check the website for airport you fly from.
Last time I went there was a limit of 8 items per person and your clear bag had to shut.....then again people were being caught with me and being let through (annoying IMO when you've personally stuck to the rules). Some make up will also count, for example lip balms etc, anything that is not a solid.
Other option if you need to get more stuff is to buy it when through security, there is nearly always a boots there.
Or your hotel may have shower gel etc0 -
I think each item has to be less than 100mls. I have used more than one clear sandwich bag in the past with no problems0

Some airports are more relaxed than others, so it's worth checking the specific airport's website for the latest information, as sarah69696pink recommended. If you check the information page for Gatwick airport they say you can carry solid deodorants and lipstick anywhere you like, but that's contrary to the standard rules you'll find in the Directgov page (sorry I can't send you the links due to forum rules
)
The rule of thumb is that any gels, liquids or runny things like mascara, fluid make-up, roll-on deodorant, toothpaste & any aerosols, creams and gels do have to be in containers of 100ml or less (you can't carry half-filled 200ml containers, for instance) and fit in a closed transparent self-seal bag of those you can get in the airport (20x20cm max).
I hope that was useful. Have fun on your break!0 -

you only get one clear bag each, and all your gels, liquids, perfume etc (including your make-up if its in liquid form, including lipstick, mascara, foundation etc) has to fit in the one clear bag with your toiletries.
For 4 days consider sharing travel-size toiletries with someone else in your party, or even buying them when you get to your destination.
Aerosols are fine, as long as they are under 100mls and can fit in the one clear bag with the rest of your stuff.0 -

Airports do not have discretion on how the rules are implemented so cannot be more relaxed than others and there isn't a limit of 8 items.
No one container can have a volume > 100ml and all the containers must fit in a 1l bag - so in theory you could have 20x50ml containers if you wanted.0 -
thankyou to all for your advice it has been very helpful0
