the career development load does not affect your student fiance. have you done a degree before and been financed by student fiance, if so you cant get another loan from the government.

Was the career development loan to fund a postgraduate course? If so I am assuming you already have a degree.

Unfortunately you can only apply for funding for a first degree, any subsequent degrees must be self funded. (I believe this is different in Scotland).

This is correct, although I don't know about Scotland. Essentially, if the qualification you will be taking is equivalent to, or lower than, a qualification that you already have, then you must fund it yourself. These are called the ELQ rules, and apply no matter how you funded your previous qualification.
  • No the CDL was used for my National Diploma. I do not already have a degree. This sept will be my first at uni.

Ah right, so I am assuming this loan was through a bank/similar and not through student loans company, then I can't see any problem in you starting a degree and applying for funding through SFE. I am pretty sure they are only picky if you owe THEM money;)
However I am not an expert so you would be worthwile giving them a quick ring to clarify:)

I hope the outcome is favourable.
