Quick question about Megatrain

I've got a ticket booked with Megatrain for a trip to London in a few weeks and was intending to print out my confirmation email but my printer has just broken which means I can't do that now. On their site is says that it isn't essential but that they recommend taking a print-out, has anyone travelled with them without one? Will the guard accept my reference number if I just have it written down? I've never used them before so I just thought I had better double-check to be safe.

Yes, it is ok to travel with just your reservation number scribbled on a bit of paper.
As you say, from their website...What do I give the Guard or station staff when travelling on megatrain.com/megabusplus.com?
You must give the guard or station staff your reservation number when requested. Make sure that you obtain a reservation number for each journey you reserve. While not required, we do suggest you bring a printed copy of your payment confirmation page, reservation confirmation email or SMS message, as these will include your reservation number(s).0 -
Oh good, that's ok then. Thanks very much.

Next time I would suggest you pay the small extra charge for the Text then even if you lose that piece of paper you still have the text.
I sent down to London recently and had the reference/reservation numbers on my phone which I showed to the guard but within sight of where I was sitting there were at least 2 or 3 people with pieces of paper so I would imagine it's a regular occurrence. You also have to show it as you exit the station as well, where there is a ticket barrier, so make sure you keep hold of your piece of paper.0 -

Just save it as a memo on your phone instead. It's free and Megabus/Megatrain accept it. I usually write it on a bit of paper and save it on my phone as well, just in case I lose the paper or my battery goes. (I never print them out, waste of ink!)0 -
I booked tickets for Megatrain for my daughters and the station attendant told them the print-out wasn't enough and they needed proper tickets.
After lots of panicking (they were already on their way to the station they were changing at) I checked the site and all Megatrain needed was the code, whether that is printed off or just written down.0 -
Some station staff are badly trained. I suggest writing to the Company so that this training issue can be addressed.I booked tickets for Megatrain for my daughters and the station attendant told them the print-out wasn't enough and they needed proper tickets.

isnt it more likely that not all the staff have been given the info required to operate the megatrain system?
How does megatrain.com work with the automatic barriers at stations?
Barrier staff will have a copy of the megatrain.com passenger loading sheet and passenger reference numbers will be checked. You must give the guard or station staff your reservation number when requested.0 -
And if all the barrier staff haven't been given the required info to operate the megatrain system, isn't that the same as poorly trained?isnt it more likely that not all the staff have been given the info required to operate the megatrain system?

Maybe not the barrier staff, but someone else.
If you are saying that perhaps the barrier staff haven't been given the list of reference numbers, then surely that would not lead to the barrier staff asking for a 'real' ticket, would it?
Whichever way you look at it, it is poorly trained staff... in my opinion.0
