Washing Machine stuck on one programme

Hi all
I purchased a new Hotpoint Aquarius washing machine last November model WMAL 621. On Friday I noticed that the time saver function wasn't working and that when I did a wash, it was sticking to the last programme I had used ie last programme I used was 40 min 30 degree wash, I turn the manual dial to other programmes, but still get a 40 min 30 degree wash. Its going through the motions fine, just not doing what I ask it too.
It is still in warranty but Hotpoint are unable to come out for 2 weeks. I was wondering if any body had any idea what the problem was and if it was an easy/cheap fix, if so I would rather pay a local engineer and save the wait.
Thanks in advance

Would have thought it was a simple as remove knob twist the dial secure knob ensuring it twists all done.0 -
Calling out an independent is likely to invalidate your remaining warranty. No free lunch, and no free laptop
