Overdraft increase refusal???

I have a basic account with Lloyds TSB with an overdarft. I do use my overdraft pretty much every month and quite often go over into an unplanned overdraft serving me with lots of bank charges. Not ideal I know but unfortunately life circumstances sometimes dictate this activity. Anyway I wanted to increase my overdraft by £70 in part to try and avoid going over into an unplanned overdraft and avoid these heavy charges in the future but my question is if I ask for an increase is it possible once I've 'flagged' my account up that they might look into my current overdraft and not only refuse to increase my overdraft but withdraw it altogether??! I wanted to know if this was a possibility before causing myself more grief! Any advice would be greatMany thanks.
If you use Lloyd TSB's online banking, you could try increasing your overdraft limit by £70 through this. No credit check is undertaken and you could increase your overdraft upto your pre-approved limit(if any) over your current limit. The system gives an instant decision. If there is no further overdraft available on your account, it will let you know.0 -

Last time I did that, effectively doubling the available OD, it asked me to call a number and they then agreed the OD on the phone rather than automatically granting it online. There was also a search done on call credit.0 -

If anyone has got a CPD don't fault the bank fault your own financial disaster prior to the account.
I have not 'done a bunk' or defaulted on any payments whatsoever no where have I said this in my post so why you are making this assumption is beyond me. And I am not aware that I have a CPD99 either! Yes I use my overdraft, yes I go over my overdraft, I have NEVER had a payment returned and all of my bills and DD's are paid on time. I was made redundant and had to use my overdraft to feed my children and pay my bills whilst I was out of work. It is there to be used in an emergency, what more of an emergency is there than having no money coming in and children to feed?!? I have been struggling to pay it back since especially as the job I now have pays nowhere near as much as my previous job did but my bills are still the amount, they dont come down just because my income is less!! I find you very judgemental and rude and your comments have been in NO way helpful. I asked for advice not to be berated and bullied. Kindly keep your assumptions and bad judgements to yourself. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ELSE THAT HAS TRIED TO ADVISE ME, IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!0 -

Here we go it was a generalisation not aimed at you but others who have the CPD whatever it is.
I did not mention your name nor did I quote your statement in my post!0 -

If you can't take the judgmental comments then try giving a bit more information in your first post. You might find you get completely different responses.
People will make a judgment on the information they have in front of them, we don't read minds or have crystal balls here on the forum.0 -
I dont think it is fair to automatically assume that I have done a bunk or defaulted on my payments just because I did not want to share my personal details with the forum which are private and quite frankly no-one elses business. I asked for financial advice. The rest of what has been said is nothing more than peoples assumptions of which Bugsy Browne's comments were completely rude and offering no advice at all!! As far as I am aware this is a forum for advice?!?
Bugsy Browne, all of your very unuseful comments were quite obviously aimed at me since I am the poster of this thread, the first comment undoubtedly had my name on it since you said "As lloyds internal scoring only goes upto 9 which is their worst customer I would think by what you've said they've made an exception and give you a 10. On their CPU systems in big letters it says DO NOT GIVE THIS CUSTOMER EVEN A CUP OF TEA." If you're going to say something at least have the balls to stand by it!!As my mom always used to say "If you've got nothing nice (or useful) to say then say nothing at all!".0 -
Some of the comments made on this forum by long term members at newbies are far too harsh and it should be remembered that the newbie is seeking advice not looking for a kicking when they are already stressing over their financial position. That said some of the posts are quite funny however put yourself in their shoes for a moment and ease up! Who needs the grief - life's too short.
@OP Should you decide to ask for an additional sum on your OD I suggest that you pop into branch and speak to a banker. The banker can let you know whether the additional facility is preapproved by a 20 second review of the system. Based on your account conduct it may be unlikely that further flexibility is provided. I suggest that you consider some of the posts above, then decide for yourself if it is worth asking the question in branch.0
