I would suggest an external DVD RW that you use as and when or get the reseller to install your software for you, a proper professional company will offer it as a value add. Ultra books are light but they are aimed at consumers, have you considered a smaller screen model? My work laptop has a 14" screen and is fine for all day use and I am a lady of a certain age too LOL.

    Currently using a Samsung R530

    So you're skint.

Refurbished Dell Latitude D430 on Ebay. Should be able to get one with an external optical drive for £150.

Although I wouldn't normally point anyone at Apple I have been provided with a MacBook Pro for work which is both lightweight and has a DVD drive. Whether all of your software will actually work on a Mac is another matter altogether.
