Is my payslip correct!

When I started with my agency recently I signed a p46 as I knew my p45 would take longer to arrive than my first payslip. My agent never passed this to payroll. In the end I passed payroll my p45 direct.
I'd suggest trying your payroll first to make sure they recieved your p45.Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0 -
It was what was sent to me when I was no longer signing on, I kept one part and the other was for my new employer, this is my only job, I finished work in Feb, temping maternity cover, claimed income based job seekers until this position, so I am guessing I gave the agency the correct paperwork!
How long ago was it that you handed in the P45 and can you advise the details that appeared on it?
If it was handed in some time ago and the payroll say they have not recieved it I would suggest that you ask them for a P46 as the sooner you get onto emergency tax the sooner you will stop paying tax on your future earnings. You should get the tax back you have paid (assuming all details given so far are correct) but this may take a while if the P45 is lost, and it's no good paying tax in the future and then waiting to get it back if that can be avoided.
Also it is possible that you may have overpaid tax last year. Did you get a refund from the Jobcentre, if not can you give tax code taxable income and tax paid for last year?0 -

Hi Chrisbur,
I posted it to them about three weeks ago, but have been working for them for six weeks.
My first wage slip I earned 46.46, paid 9.20 tax and the code on it says OT1, then my following slips all say BR1 for my code.
Last year, well may 2011 to feb 2012 I worked full time for an agency temping maternity leave, I never recieved any kind of tax rebate then and thought I maybe would get one, Like a previous poster said I should poss ring the tax office nad enquire, is it difficult to get my rebate???
many thanks

No it is very easy, just a form to fill out. Even if you don't fill it out they should get the money back to you themselves but it can take a while (I just recently got a cheque for overpaid tax in 2006/2007 which I didn't realise I was owed)
I think checking with payroll is the best way to go, any tax you overpay should be paid back in your first correct pay so don't be too concerned, although it must be annoying for you.0 -
Hi Chrisbur,

Check with payroll to see if recieved. If not ask for a P46 and get onto emergency tax, then get in touch with the tax office to get your proper code sorted.
0T1 is the code to use if you have declined to fill in a P46, were you asked to fill one in?My first wage slip I earned 46.46, paid 9.20 tax and the code on it says OT1, then my following slips all say BR1 for my code.
BR1 is not a code that they should be using unless it was on your P45 is that possibly the case? Or they could just be using the wrong code.Last year, well may 2011 to feb 2012 I worked full time for an agency temping maternity leave, I never recieved any kind of tax rebate then and thought I maybe would get one, Like a previous poster said I should poss ring the tax office nad enquire, is it difficult to get my rebate???

I believe from what you have said that you ended the year on Jobseekers, have they issued you with a P60u as yet, if so what are the figures on it?0 -

Hi Chris,
Many thanks for your help, I have a ton of papers here, one that states off HRMC dates 26 Jan is says my tax code for the year 6 april 2012 to 5 april 2013 is 816L, I had just finished working for the agency it names on it, then on the 19th April they sent me another one which say that Reed need a tax code and it is BR, when I received that I just assumed it was the correct one because I hadnt been working, Would the tax office not know this information???
So I guess tomorrow I call and tell them Reed is my only job!!
thanksSam B0 -

If the BR code came from the tax office then they are proberbly under the impression that you have two jobs so you will need to sort this with the tax office.0 -

Hi Chris
Just spoke with HRMC, the guy on the phone was helpful, and thinks Reed are partly to blame he said they need to have a word with them as this is always happening!!! whatever this is.
He is issuing the correct paperwork today to them, and he said it is then up to them to put the correct code in, I should get my tax back in a payslip and should not be paying any at all in future cos of the amount earned. He also said the DHSS have not issued them with anything as yet??? again I dont quite understand.
thanks for all your help.... I have about 10,00 different sheets of paper here :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Sam B0
