Vauxhall Corsa - Cam belt?
Comments
-
evil nasty little engine the 1.0 litre
as said you can hear them at 400 paces usually
i suggest if you insist on buying one of these things you have the oil and filter done straight away as they never get done and the oil filter degrades into the oil catastrophically
yes its a cam chain and not a good design where the water pump can leak into it
Oops - just spotted the O/P said 12v so yes its the dreaded 1.0 and yes its a chain.
Personally, at this mileage i'd avoid it. A 1.0 with that miles is like a 1.2 with 140K miles.
Bad little engines.0 -
Hi,
Thanks, it's a 2001 one (2003 reg) though luckily!
That rings a bell, my friend has a similar one but older, think they said that was done when they first got it. I'll have to get mine done.evil nasty little engine the 1.0 litre

Bad little engines.
No power on hills, if I can't get a run up then it's an effort to get up one.
Apart from that I have no problems and my Corsa has been a good little servant, never let me down and goes well at fast speeds as well as being nippy in town. I've been really lucky with it. 0 -
the chain development in these small engine cars was uncalled for in my opnion the belts were perfectly OK. but then again SO EASY TO FIT by the DIY mechanic so no wounder GM/chev chucked a hiddious chain engine in these things and even more so stay away from all TWINPORT engines too they will give your wallet a crashing for cash when they go wrong.0

Sorry, you've lost me.....How can it be a 2001 and a 2003 model? As has been said though, the 1-litre 3-cylinder Corsa was indeed chain driven.Hi,

Ha, erm no idea!
2001 model on all insurance sites etc and information available that automatically pulled when the numberplate is entered, but 54 plate and first registered (driven?) 2003 - DVLA website confirms this.
A friend says that means it was potentially sat in a garage/factory/showroom etc and hadn't been assigned a number plate for over a year as they're assigned once it's brought?0 -
Irish car imported into the uk 2 years later?0

You often see older cars with newer numberplates if they're sat in factories etc. Police Forces buy a lot like this as does the HM Forces. However, they would (I assume?) only be registered as soon as they are allocated a new home (police or forces etc), in which case the year of registration, matches the year on the plates.Ha, erm no idea!
