probably about time to pull it out and sow some more!
it has gone into flower so is reaching for the sky
the swiss chard i sowed outside in september overwintered well and have been providing us with lots of chard over the past few months
very valuable as a green vegetable especially once the kale had finished its growing season but before the new seasons crops are readysquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -
You need to cut it regularly, its better eaten younger really. As the other poster said it may be going to seed if it is from last year. It can get quite big though. I am growing 3 types-swiss chard lucillius (plain white colour), yellow chard and bright lights lol.
Its fab young as a salad leaf, then when a bit bigger like a spinach then when bigger still cut the stems from the leaves and use the stems like celery and the leaves like cabbage.
