NatWest cannot find credit card details

Hi
Could you give me some advice please. My husband had a NatWest credit card which we settled in 2006 and we think that he had PPI on this even though he was not working and was a House Husband.
I called NatWest but they couldn't give me any information and suggested writing to their Cards Customer Service which I did. I received a letter back today saying that they cannot find any information even though he still has 2 Bank accounts with them and have advised me to contact either Experien, Equifax or Callcredit.
Is this the best route to take as if i can get the credit card number how will NatWest know if he had PPI? I thought that they would have the details. Is the SAR request the best route to take?
Many thanks

Hi there
They may only hold the data for the last 6 years, but you could try sending a SAR (Subject Access Request) to the data dept who may come across the details.
To send a SAR, you can use your bank account number and they should send details they hold on all accounts taken out with the bank, you enclose the one payment of £10 cheque or postal order, and they have up to 40 calendar days to comply.
SAR template here.

Thanks Di - much appreciated and thank you for taking the time out to give such good advice and help. I shall complete a SAR - I find it strange that they can't locate the details even though we have current bank accounts with them. I managed to track 2 of my other credit card details which were paid off at the same time over the phone from MBNA and Halifax- Is this the norm?
On another note, would the credit agencies hold this information?
Some good news - I had my complaint, which I made over the phone to Halifax upheld and have just received a cheque for £6,800 - A big thank you to all at MSE:j0 -

Your very welcome.:A
And also to say Congratulations on your success, excellent news!
I am aware this has happened to others as well, then suddenly the info comes up other ways, so hopefully the SAR will be a help to you.;)
Credit organsations do generally hold details of all accounts within the last 6 years, now I cannot recall if it was Equifax or Experian that may hold data for longer than 6 years, so it maybe worth giving them a call to find out first, and the reports cost £2.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
