Term Insurance

I took out a term insurance policy 5 years ago with cover for 20 years, that would pay an income to my wife in the event of my death, and at the time I had no medical conditions to declare on the application form.
However, a few months ago I was diagnosed as having Diabetes type 2, which is controlled by diet alone.
I wondered if the insurance company need to be informed about this as I do not want to speak to them if its not necessary, and would this condition affect any claim that my wife made in the event of my death.
I would be grateful for any advice on this matter.

Whos the policy with?
The policy is underwritten at application stage, so you would not normally need to make the insurance company aware of any changes to your health.
Just remember should you cancel the policy you will not be able to get the same level of cover for the same price again.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
