Gardening contracts

I am going back to work full time and don't want to spend all my weekends keeping the garden looking tidy.
Does anyone have any experience with how much a gardening company would charge for a maintenance contract? Mainly thinking of cutting and maintaining the lawn but we also have a couple of borders that could do with being kept under control.
When I rented a flat the management company paid their gardener £400 per year and it had quite a big garden with lots of borders and hedges aswell as lawn.
That figure seems quite reasonable but not sure it is realistic. Any advice much appreciated.

The going rate around here is between £10 and £12 per hour. These are non-professional gardeners iykwim. I know of one or two of them who are retired folk earning a bit extra.0
