One of ours is on Felimazole twice a day. At first we had to hide the tablet in a raw piece of tuna, that worked for a while (although very expensive, as would buy a raw tuna steak, cut it into small cubes, wrap each in clingfilm and freeze), the she started chewing the tuna and spitting out the tablet. Next thing was cream cheese that worked, she would lick the the cheese with a tablet from my fingers. This that ceased to work too, so we are currently buying cooked frozen king prawns, taking one out every morning/evening and once thawn, cut it in 5-6 pieces and with a very sharp knife make a small hole in a piece and hide the tablet in. This method has 90% success rate - sometimes more than 1 piece is needed. It also helps if the cat is hungry...Others have recommended cheddar cheese but our cat doesn't like it.Good luck!

Our vet recommended using three small treats such as pieces of Webbox, with one of the pieces kneaded and squished around the pill (we found it necessary to knead and squish all 3, so they looked the same). He told us to make sure the cat had seen all the pieces, give a "plain" piece, then quickly afterwards, the piece with the pill, and then the other plain one. It worked for my MIL's cat who had daily kidney medication.

My current cat, I have only ever succeeded with the 'stuff it down the throat' method - but you only get one chance! The secret is to be calm and ruthlessly efficient, no sweet-talking, no warning, and preferably be behind the cat, as it takes a few milliseconds longer for them to get their claws round.

I'm sorry to say that all attempts to improve her health failed and she was put to sleep an hour ago.

I hope all your little ones are happy and healthy xx

This could be me writing this thread...my cat was the same; Hyperthyroidism that we just could not get under control, then refusing to take her tablets no matter what we did. Gut wrenchingly this time last week we were in the same boat...returning home to an empty house after having her put to sleep. I hope your bearing up...my thoughts are with you. I miss my cat so much :(

    Thank you.

Her name was Willow so we're going to bury her and plant a Willow tree when we return from our honeymoon.

I miss her so much already, she was such a big part of my life.

It's amazing how such a small creature fills your home and life isn't it. What a lovely idea with the willow tree...and what a gorgeous name. Lots of love x

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. We too had the battles with pills (different problem) for about 3 weeks before losing our beloved Merlin on Saturday. He was 20 and we miss him desperately. Never had to do anything more difficult in my life than to decide it was time to put him to sleep.
