First Direct prevents access using Safari browser

First Direct has just withdrawn access to its Internet Banking service for anyone using Apple's Safari browser. No notice, no consultation, no explanation - just a screen saying (paraphrased) 'Safari not supported, go and get Firefox'. On calling the bank they are obviously very busy with complaints and the technical support people said Safari doesn't work with the new security procedures - well it did two days ago!
This is outrageous treatment from what used to be a customer-focused bank but is rapidly becoming like all the others. Charges for text messages, charges for current accounts; do it our way or go away seems to be the message.
Martin might consider investigating on behalf of customers before we all move from First Direct.
On which topic - where would be a good place for offset mortgage and associated current and savings accounts?

PS - I went to get Firefox, installed it, logged on to First Direct - "Site experiencing technical difficulties, please log off"!!!!
