Tax code changed?

Apologies if this s in the wrong place. Heres my situation
I am employed 14 hours a week earning min wage and i also do Avon. I did my tax return online about a week ago and have recieved a letter today saying my tax code has changed to 686L the letter goes on to explain i can earn up to £566 a month for my employer before tax gets taken off.
My 'profit' for Avon once my petrol and other expeses were taken off was actually a LOSS of £63.
My wage for 2011-2012 was 4400 (i was also on mat leave for 14 weeks so -1400 needs deducting from this) - i have over estimated expected for 2012-2013 as £6000.
I also got 973 contribution based Job seekers in 2011-2012.
I also am a relief catering assistant - employed just as and when (only just started this in may but expected to only recieve £30 a month IF that)
Can anyone explain in simple terms why it has been changed? it use to be 747L (or something like) Does this mean i should expect a tax bill or something? so confused.

I'm not going to pretend to understand it, but if you're not expecting to earn as much as £6000 in the current tax year via your employer, than it isn't anything to worry about, as no tax should be deducted.
However, if you care to post up full figures for the previous tax year, someone might work out whether your due a tax rebate for last year.
That would be figures for gross income and tax deducted from your P60, what tax code is there, and details of your JSA and employment and maternity - periods you were receiving each and sums received, whether any tax was deducted etc. Also was it SMP or MA you were getting?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
You should be 810L for this year. What is your tax code?
I’ve got a ‘K’, so unless you have this, please think yourself lucky
Plus everything from Sue’s post
