Lloyds Loan - no paperwork

Options
Hi there,

When I was 23 and a full time student I went into my Lloyds branch and asked about a guarantor mortgage - my dad was going to be the guarantor. The person I spoke to suggested I try for my own mortgage as I was working part time as well. I hadnt thought this was an option, but this was back in the day when they gave mortgages away freely!

An application for a 95% interest only mortgage was approved in principle that day! I was stunned and excited. Next problem - How to get the 5%. The advisor suggested a loan from Lloyds and an appointment was set up for me that week.

I met with the bank worker about the loan. I can't remember much of the conversation other than he was being very matey and was very confident it would be approved.

The loan was approved for £4k, and afterwards he actually suggested I try again for another few grand. luckily I declined.
Looking back I cant believe how easy they made it to access huge amounts of money - we'll never see those days again! (thankfully)

So anyway, the loan is now paid off as of 2008. I wondered the steps I would take to find out if I was paying PPI. I don't have the paperwork any more but I do have a record of the loan account or reference number on my bank statements.

Can anyone point me in the right direction / to an appropriate thread / template letter?

many thanks

G

I just rang Lloyds loan dept and a very helpful lady told me which past loans we had ppi on some as far back as 2002/2003. She then put me through to ppi claims dept to make a claim. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Daj - I might try ringing them myself, but for some reason I feel afraid! Maybe I think they will remove my over draft facility or do a credit search (now earning less money) and remove my credit card facility or something if I anger them!

Did you get their number on the main Lloyds TSB website?

The number was on the sar they sent us 08000927290 which only gave us details of our current loan which had consolidated our previous loans with them, so just rang on the off chance they could send us the other agreements but as I say a very helpful lady did a check whilst on the phone. Must admit we too have been the same and it was only after all the advice given on here we plucked up courage to apply, still waiting to hear back but fingers crossed.
