I bought a camera at Tesco last August. It has just broken. It is guaranteed for a year. I have the receipt. I thought i could take it back to exchange it or get a refund but when i took it back they said i had to call the helpline. When i spoke to the helpline whilst in the store they said Tesco could exchange or refund if they wanted to but if they would not i could send it to them for repair. Tesco said they would not exchange or refund as it is longer than 28 days ago i bought it. I would have to send it off to to be repaired. I said to them i think my rights are that you have to take it and exchange or refund me, they said no we are such a large store we don't do that.
I thought my rights were that if it was guaranteed for a year they had to exchange or refund if it was faulty, am i right? If so i will go back and insist on this. I don't want the expense, hassle and to wait for repair. Thanks.

They are within their rights to offer a repair on the camera. This is within the law, and also contained within the terms of the warranty.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

They are within their rights to repair it. If you are out of pocket you can claim consequential losses from them, ask them for reasonable travel expenses.0

Yes they have a right to try and fix it first. If it can't be fixed then they would offer you a refund or replacement.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
