Wasn't sure how label title of this one as its a new to me. When I am typing like now, be it slowly or at speed the cursor moves to some random place in a sentence or somewhere else. It started to become quite a pain now as I cant type fast with it happening then having to do my sentence again. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else? Sorry for being vague.

  • You're tapping the touchpad with your wrists or clothing.

My favoured solution is to disable it and use a proper mouse (touchpads are EVIL) but others will offer alternatives.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

It's quite common with the sensitive touch pads on laptops, usually caused by either wrists or sleeves brushing over the pad as you are typing over it, most modern laptops have a button to disable the mouse. You can either keep disabling and re-enabling it as and when you need to or a lot of people buy an external mouse and disable the onboard one long term.

    What make/model is your laptop?

ETA: WC beat me to it

Really!! I would never thought of that!! Thing is I kind of rely on my touch pad as I don't have a desk as such to use a mouse. Seems I will have to think of a workaround. (I am typing now looking closely to see if this is the case!!)

If it makes any difference I didn't used to use a desk but because I used an optical mouse instead of the old ball ones I used my leg/arm of sofa as a surface to use it on, they don't really need a desk to work.
