Fire Safety (Protection of Tenants) Bill fails to get through

This Private Members Bill , sponsored by Adrian Sanders, failed to complete its passage through Parliament before the end of the Session so will not now become law. ( First Reading was in June 2010)
The intention of the Bill was that LLs should be required by law to
" provide smoke alarms in rented accommodation and for connected purposes" T would have been required to undertake to test the alarms at least once a month and notify any alarm defect to the LL
