If you want a virtual landline number try Skype.0

Why pay Skype when you can get one foc.
www.sipgate.co.uk or http://www.net-telco.net/freenumber
Or you can get one from these peeps for a resonable price depending on exchange required. http://www.flextel.com/ they offer good rates to point at mobi if thats what you need.0 -
Also look at https://www.soho66.co.uk.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Another vote for sipgate, really good experiences with them, much cheaper than skype.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Wow. Just registered for this and really impressed - have it running off my wireless laptop.
If i wanted to setup a phone in my house to do this, what would i need? I've a BT wireless router here.0 -
The magic words are "VOIP Gateway". They plug into the router and produce a physical line you can plug any phone into. Expect to pay around £50 for what you need.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

BT offer a service called Call Sign, that allows a virtual number to be overlaid on your existing line. Do remember if you dial out, only the main CLI will be shown.0
