oh. a trip to Haytor rocks is nice. they have one you can climb and see for ages. Yarna park is a small country park near by to Haytor and usually have family activities in the holidays. the indyarna jones day was fab! the kids wnet with the guide to find clues for the treasure and there was sweets in the chest at the end and very beautiful.

You are lucky this is a fabulous area with tons to do. Donkey sanctuary is great fun take a picnic. However it is quite a long way from Dawlish as you have to go up to Exeter and down to Sidmouth. Trago Mills has lots to offer but on the whole the food is awful, have been many times and normally take a picnic. Petrol in Exeter can be cheapest in area. Have a great time.

I can recommend from Exeter getting on the X53 coastal bus that goes right down into Poole,Dorset.Buy an explorer ticket
    http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/dorset/tickets/dorset/firstday.php

It's a beautifull scenic ride although if you stay on the bus is alittle over 2hours one way,but you could hop on & off ie at the donkey sanctuary http://www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/ take a picnic & there is also the beach accessable from the donkey sanctuary although it is a dawdling walk of about 30 mins.

You could also hop of bus at Lyme Regis a stunning little town with good food, beautifull views then onto Weymouth town & theres always things going on during the hols or going past onto Durdle Dor etc
In life try to be nice to others, you never know who you are going to meet on your way down...
