Well done - I can hear the tunes of 'What A Feelin'' already in the air! I will bet due to this site there are more and more people closing accounts and paying off debt than ever before. Maybe one day 'credit arting' will be based on how much you don't owe in debt, rather than how much you do. Enjoy the feeling of paying off 2 cards!MFW #185

Yes, they both sounded so hurt and upset that I wanted to close the accounts, ha ha ha. TopShop said that I could keep the account open at 0 balance for as long as I wanted, but I said no thanks, I want to close it.
Will be nice for the first time in nearly 9 years for something on my credit file to say settled!Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

:j well ..... it looks like hubby got the job :j
He was told he would find out last week, and on Thursday he had a phone call to arrange a medical but we were not in. They phoned back on Friday and I had to take the call, so had to arrange his medical for him, and was told that it was the final stage in the process and all that was left was to wait for the licence to come back! A letter arrived yesterday with the licence form and it said that they need to wait for DVLA to fax them with a certificate of entitlement to start his driver training, and they will contact him to confirm his start date! 6-8 weeks training and then the position becomes permanent. We are really really pleased as we will save a fortune because he will be able to walk to work instead of spending £30 a week on petrol. He is having his medical on Friday (which we cannot forsee any problems with) and then can send his application in, which they say will take 48hrs before DVLA faxes them back. So, hopefully by the middle of the following week we should know his start date and he can hand in his notice. So exciting!!!! Going to budget in a celebratory meal out :beer:Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Well I haven't updated my diary for a while so i thought I would just bring everything up to date.
Hubby has a new job, although can't start it yet as his driving licence has got lost in the post and he now has to wait for a new one to arrive, which is supposed to be getting sent out this morning  The DVLA have been absolutely useless over the whole thing, but luckily his new employers have been really understanding and have told him not to worry about it - I just hope that they stick with that line until the licence arrives.
So, we are in a real limbo state at the moment because we have no idea what our financial position will be in a weeks time or a months time because we just don't know when he will actually start this job. Whatever, we know we are entitled to some WTC this year because his wages will be lower than last year (change of job part way through year from £20k to £11k - lost job), even with the new job they will be about £13,500. However, we aren't getting WTC at the moment so feeling the pinch.
On the debt front things are going really well though, it is really coming down now and every month the payments seem to be getting easier to afford, to the point where we hardly notice that they are coming out of the bank and for the first time we are managing to keep up to date with all our bills and payments. Ah the joy of a good budget!
We have cut our shopping bill down from about £75 a week to little over £35 a week :T
Snowball says 8 more months until our credit cards are paid off and we have no more interest to pay on our debts
