Sky wireless broadband help

Can anyone please help me?

I have connected up my Sky broadband, and I am using a Cable and Wireles adapter. My Wireless connection reports that there is a good strenth of signal. However, I haven't got any connctivity.

When I click the repie connection, I get the message that the NEtwork addresses cannot be assigned by DHCP )which is enabled).

I've chacked the Internet iprions setting, and they are configured to dynamically assign IP addresses. I even tried ipconfig\renew, but that didn't work.

HAs anyone got any suggestins of what I could try?

Many thanks

    Thanks for replying
    Yes,

The computer shows that the signal is there. I can also update my firewall. It just wont let me connect to the internet through IE

  • Juliff,
If you go into your IE, click on "Tools", then select "Internet Options", "Connections" tab - there shouldn't be anything selected under the "dial-up and virtual private connections" .. and "Don't dial a connection" should be selected ...
Click on "Lan Settings", and make sure only "Automatically Detect Settings" - the first option under LAN settings is selected ...

Close IE, and open it up again and try browsing to a webpage .. google is a good start

If you still can't get access, let me know ...

    Good luck

    type start, run, cmd

    ipconfig

if the ip address starts with 192.168.0.x then you are connected to the router, and it is probably an IE/tcpip/firewall issue as above.

If it says 169.x.x.x then you are not really connected to the router. try start run cmd

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig

if you still have a 169 address, and it still says connected in wireless, then it is probably a encryption key/type incorrect issue.

goto 192.168.0.1 to correct it with a wired connection,

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I have tried aeach of them:

Turning off firewall did not makeany difference.

Checked internet option connection settings, and they are all set as per intellitechitsolutions recommendations.

    Ran ipconfig /release

IP address & subnet mask reported 0.0.0.0

    Ran ipconfig /renew

    REturned following:

"An error occcured while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out".

Still sounds like an encryption type/key problem. It may be saying "connected", but that doesn't mean authenticated.

If Sky installed it, the wpa key should be on a little credit card sized thing they gave you.

    Hello

I turned off the firewall, and THEN did the ipconfig /renew, andhey presto, I have an internet connection.

Anyway, now I need to figure out how to configure Panda to allow myDHCP to assign network addresses.

would it be easiest to uninstall Panda, and then reinstall with the wireless adapter already in place?

Thanks you all for your patient help.
