Selling a car on eBay

Whenever I have sold a car on ebay I have always used the BIN/Make offers rather than classified.
I always put the buy it now price higher than I want and make sure I don't automatically accept any offers and can review them. You get the dealers coming in at half price but after a couple of days the bids come in for a half decent price (ie my BIN is £1000 and offers would be £850-900).
I have been messed about a few times by people making offers and then not committing so I make it clear in the listing that they should contact me about offers before making them so I can ascertain they are genuine bidders, I don't accept an offer until I have had some contact with the buyer and thoroughly encourage them to come and view it first so that there is no issue with haggling etc.
Personally, I think I get more interest with make offers than with classified.0 -

I've been offered a pretty crappy price (£4750) from a local garage and I'm thinking of putting my motor up on eBay for a three day listing. I'm pretty sure I could get an extra grand for the car after comparing prices on Autotrader.
I've been banned for drink driving and I'm moving shortly, so touring around local dealers is out of the question as I'd have to get a mate to drive it around and I haven't got the time at the moment.
Soooo... does anyone have experience of the fees eBay charge for car sales? Are they extortionate? Any horror stories? Any satisfied sellers out there?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
doesnt make sense this
cars are on autotrader but not selling and you think you could get more on ebay ?0 -
My experience of buying and selling cars on eBay as a private seller is that it's pretty hit and miss. They can go for what you want; they can also go for much less than those on autotrader etc. Remember that people go onto eBay looking for a bargain, not to pay the going rate.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Dont forget your mate probably wont be insured for your car.
Your insurance is invalid and his probably wont cover your uninsured car.
Have you declared it SORN? If not thats another bill to think about.

Have you had a look to see if any similar cars have sold on ebay, to get an idea of prices?
You can check completed listings to see what auction and BIN items have sold at.What goes around - comes around0 -
EBay charges too much for PayPal better to close auction and sell for cash.0
