    Actually, I disagree. Mail delivered by courier or special delivery can easily go missing. The only secure way would be via the bank's own internal mail and have it sent directly to your branch.

    If you watched the programme about Barclays on the Beeb last week, you would not consider that method 100% safe.

    With HSBC, Debit cards are sent out as disguised mail, but credit cards are not, for the reason that when you get a credit card you have to call and confirm your details before you can activate it, if you did this with debit cards im sure they would come in normal envelopes
