He'll probably use the 10 million to offset his tax.

When I first heard about it, my first thought was "OMG no forum!"and sadness to lose the inspiration that is Martin. However, I feel that Martin will always be around to kick their butt!

    - online trader called Woodscrew Supply Company built up a megga folowing
    - B&Q [Kingfisher Group] bought it and renamed Screwfix to Screwfix Direct
    - the original owners hands were legally tied for 36 months
    - 37 months later he opened again [same trading model] under a new trading name

Its the way of the world, if Martin feels his brand and the 'spirit' of what he intended has been let down he can 'do it again' after the same legal period.

  • just depends what the contract says as hes not getting all the £87m in one chunk
  • Given the abuse towards disabled people that was allowed to continue in DT over the weekend, my question has been answered. Given the value of the site, the old "we don't have moderators" line really does not wash anymore.

For anyone that did not see the threads in question, there were suggestions that someone with care needs should be institutionalised, someone else was likened to "a !!!!!! infant", and a much loved member was told she should not be allowed to have a baby because of her disability. These threads were allowed to run for well over twenty four hours.

But if you still insist this site is good for disability rights ... :o
